Born 3rd July 1957 Debbie Johnsey is a British showjumper who represented the UK at the 1976 Montreal, Olympic games. Debbie`s journey in British Show Jumping began with a series of remarkable achievements during her junior years, where she showcased her skills alongside her beloved pony, Champ. Hailing from Monmouthshire in Wales, not far from the famed David Broome, Debbie`s talent shone brightly as she claimed victory multiple times. Her exceptional performances earned her a spot on the Junior Team, proudly representing Great Britain.
Upon stepping into the world of top-level International Show Jumping, Debbie`s father acquired Moxy for her. With her new showjumping partner, Debbie`s success as a senior team member soared to new heights. Her outstanding performances led to her selection as part of the Great Britain team for the 1976 Montreal Olympics, where she narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth in the individual Show Jumping event. 1976 was an unforgettable year for Debbie Johnsey as she was also honoured as the Daily Express Sports Woman of the Year.
